Innovation Excellence Award
Awarded to a sport/recreation stakeholder which has successfully broken new ground with a sport or recreation project/initiative.

C.K. Doig Leadership Award
Awarded to an executive displaying outstanding leadership in respect to their sport/recreation organisation or the sector in general during 2012. Judges will accept nominations from within the nominator’s organisation only. Named after the late Christopher Doig this award is partnered by the Christopher Doig Foundation. The foundation aims to help grow leaders in sports and the arts. The recipient of the C.K. Doig Leadership Award will receive a $25,000 (NZD) grant to invest in a professional development programme designed in consultation with, and approved by, Sport New Zealand.

Community Collaboration Award
Awarded to an outstanding collaboration that has provided positive sport or recreation outcomes at the local level.

Event Excellence Award
Awarded to an outstanding commercial or not for profit sport or recreation event.

Commercial Partnership Award
Awarded to a sport/recreation stakeholder that has demonstrated best practice in the sourcing, negotiating, leveraging, and servicing of a partnership with a commercial organisation.

Communication Excellence Award
Awarded to a sport and recreation organisation which has best profiled itself/communicated to a target audience.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the sport and recreation sector. The recipient of this award is nominated by the Sport and Recreation Sector Awards judging panel alone and cannot be applied for.
